The Textured T-Shirt is Finished!!!

My My My, what a week it has been. Overall I would say that it has been a good week, however I am currently teetering on the edge of burnout. How do I know this? I am tired an feel like I am starting to get sick but not actually getting sick. It is my bodies way to tell me to slow down. Very fitting after last weeks post huh?
It was another short week so instead of spending the Friday off doing things, I rested on the couch watching Keeping up with the Kardashians. I could never watch reality tv before. I am not sure what it was but now I do firmly believe that it was tied to my neurodivergence. I think when I was younger there were to many things going into my poor little brain and swimming around. It is not that I don’t have this stimulus now but by unmasking, medicating, slowing down and looking after myself, there is more space to watch reality tv. Also, the more I understand about myself, the more I am open to understanding other people. Its like watching other people before highlighted my own faults and insecurities to much to handle.
The theme for this week has really been communication. I have found myself in multiple conversations over multiple days where I am talking about my experience with autism and adhd. It was exhausting on one hand doing so much talking and peopling but at the same time it was amazing to be able to discuss my experience and for people to ask questions and be interested. In a way, I feel that not only am I creating a safe place for those around me who are also neurodivergent by talking about it but I am also creating a safe space for me and helping people understand better. It is exciting that not once I have been met with negatively but consistently with understanding.
Aside for that, there have been some rough moments at home with communication with my husband. We have always been really good at communicating and working through issues that come up however, after his course, we both realise we have a lot of improvement to do. We really realised this Tuesday night. Due to our different communication styles, we can be talking about the same thing yet missing each others meanings because we are tired or there is a lot of stimulus around among other things. It has been so nice to try new ways of communicating and explore all options. It really feels like there has been a fresh breeze move through our lives and lots of change is afoot for the better.
Speaking of which, I am currently writing in my new room. This room was my sons bedroom but he has moved out and eventually it will be my sewing room. He still has stuff in here but it is so nice to have my own space. I realised a little while ago I need a space of my own where I can come when I am overstimulated, a place where I can be messy and chaotic and all the other things, yet close the door and no one knows. This room I am planning on being really girly with pastel pinks, and lace and all that fun stuff. I will keep you updated when we start making the changes.
So the Textured T-shirt. It turned out bigger than it should have. I made it an XXL because that’s where I was 12 months ago when I started this project but I have lost 10kg since then. The patterns comes from the book Anette Eriksson Scandi Knitting (Pattern No. 126). It is so comfy to wear and I am looking forward to wearing it more now the weather has cooled. It was made using 3.75 circular needles (80cm) but would suggest using shorted ones for the neck. I used Anette Eriksson Eco Cotton in colour 770, Light Blue. The pattern was fairly easy to follow. I have actually sewn it working side out because I preferred it that way and it was nice to put a little individuality into the garment.
I am really happy how the Textured T-Shirt turned out. Even though it is too big for me, it will be nice to wear as an oversized t-shirt. I think it will go great with both black pants and a few different pairs of jeans I have. It can be dressed up and down and I can’t wait to play with styling it a bit more. The rest of my week has been treating myself nicely. Going for breakfast with my hubby, (the waffles were so good!) and reading. I finished Marble Sun by E.G. Sparks. It is the third book in the Sky Ice series. I love E.G. Sparks as an author because her books are action packed and don’t get bogged down with details. I am all for a book with depth but some times you just want a story that it fun and easy to read with no nonsense. I seriously think I have read every book she has put out and cannot wait for the next.
Well my friends, that is it for this week. Hope you have all had an amazing weekend and I will see you next week xx
